Hello?

Maddie is growing up fast, she is developing the funniest personality, she is constantly doing silly things that make us laugh. The other night at dinner she took one of her apple wedges, put it up to her ear like a telephone and said, "Hello!....umm......ya.....ok......yuv you too.......bye." I thought it was so cute I had to run and grab the camera.

Once Max saw how funny we thought it was he decided he would play along and pretend like he was talking to Maddie on the phone.

I thought this would be fun to try. The look-alike meter tells you which parent your child looks more like. We all know Max looks more like his Dad :-).

With Maddie we have gotten mixed opinions, some say she looks like me, some say she looks like Bret, apparently she is an exact mix of us both.

Beautiful Day!

We have been having some great weather the last couple of days. The kids are really enjoying being able to get outside and play they have been spending a lot of time in the backyard. Today was windy but nice and warm.

Life has been good to us and we feel very blessed. Bret loves his job and we are really enjoying living in Tooele. It is good to be back in Utah and close to family again. In fact, my brother Ben and his family just moved to Tooele this weekend. We are so excited to have them live close by. We are still settling in and getting to know people in our neighborhood and ward. Our ward is really big, with lots of kids. There are 25 kids Max's age in our ward! I was just called to teach the Valiant 9 class and I am really glad to be able to serve in the primary again. About a month ago Bret was called to be the 2nd counselor in the bishopric. This came to a huge surprise to us, since we just moved in. It will be a challenge but also a blessing for our family.

Mystery Rash

When Max woke up Sunday morning with a fever, he also said his feet hurt. I didn't think much of it until he started crawling around because it hurt to walk. I took off his pajamas to look at his feet and he had a rash all over his feet, on the top and the bottom.

By Sunday evening the rash had spread up to his knees. We took him to the doctor and they said he had hives but that they don't usually come with a fever. By Monday evening the rash had spread to his hands, arms, neck and head and his fever was really high.

When the thermometer read 105 degrees I called the doctor and they said to take him to the emergency room. Bret took him to the ER and they ran a bunch of tests and didn't really know what it was. After more than 5 hours they sent him home and said to follow up with his doctor in the morning to get the test results. Tuesday morning Max woke up still with a high fever and a sore neck and back. This had us really worried, so Bret took him to the doctor, they spend several hours at the doctor's office, he was able to rule out several things including and allergic reaction and meningitis. The doctor sent them home and said to call him if he got any worse.

By the afternoon Max's feet were really itching and hurting, he was getting really hysterical by evening so I called the doctor, he told us to go to Primary Children's ER to have some tests run to see if he had an infectious disease. Those 2 words are not what you want to hear in connection with your child. At Primary Children's they were great with him. They ran several more tests and determined that it was a virus that was causing the fever and the rash and his inflamed lymph nodes that were giving him a sore neck.

It was pretty scary but he is doing much better, yesterday his fever was gone and his rash started disappearing and today he is pretty much back to normal.
